Digital edition: Festival Internacional Cervantino

This year, the 48th edition of the largest performing arts festival in Guanajuato, Mexico – Festival Internacional Cervantino, will be held entirely online for the first time. The festival is the most important cultural event in the Spanish-speaking world and ranks among the four most influential festivals in the world.

The special digital edition focuses on a new format for adapting to the new conditions arising from the presence of COVID-19 and will seek to generate new cultural experiences from a distance that will be accessible to the public.

“The global pandemic has opened up new possibilities for exploring formats adapted to our reality: It’s not just about moving cultural content to the screen, it’s also about adapting it to the needs of artists and audiences.” – shares the General Director of the International Festival Cervantino.

Until October 18th, we have the opportunity to enjoy a diverse program, including exhibitions, music, theater, opera, dance, literature and audio visual arts. Each of the events within the festival is available online 24 hours after its broadcast.

570 artists from Argentina, China, Costa Rica, Cuba, Spain, the USA, France, Mexico, Portugal, Great Britain, Senegal and Uruguay will take part in this virtual and completely free edition. The program includes 27 performances, 12 exhibitions, 2 installations and many other diverse activities.
