The performance GRACES by the Italian choreographer Silvia Gribaudi, which was scheduled for September 20, 2020 at the House of Culture “Boris Hristov”, will be presented on June 6, 2021, as part of the 13th edition of ONE DANCE WEEK.

The epidemic situation in the country and the restrictions on holding cultural events indoors necessitated the relocation of the festival in May-June 2021. All purchased tickets for the show are valid without revalidation for June 6, 2021.

For her new performance GRACES, the choreographer draws inspiration from the ancient Greek Hariti (or the Three Graces), daughters of Zeus, who embody joy, charm and beauty, and in particular from the non-classical sculpture by Antonio Canova, made between 1812 and 1817.

Three dancers, representing the daughters of Zeus – Euphrosyne, Aglaia and Talia, appear on stage with Sylvia to search for new meanings of the word “beauty”. The traditional theatrical format frames the play, but the audience soon realizes that this is also an instrument that Gribaudi uses with irony.

“There is a mystical and sincere energy between the three dancers and Gribaudi, which as a metronome calibrates the temperature, the internal and external time of the performance. This energy comes with a liberating, saving, almost hope for strength and in turn generates other uncontrolled, non-standard, potentially revolutionary energies. ”

Born in Turin, Gribaudi is engaged in classical ballet and is part of the Teatro La Fenice in Venice. After her body changed and no longer met the strict requirements of classical ballet, she found inspiration in contemporary dance. Winner of both the Audience Award and the 2009 GD’A Veneto Jury Prize, included in the 2010 list for Aerowaves Dance Across Europe, the 2013 Premio Equilibrio finalist, Silvia Grybaudi has participated in numerous national and international festivals, including which the Venice Biennale and the Edinburgh Rib Festival. In 2019, it presents the premiere of GRACES, a project selected by CollaborAction # 4 2018/2019 and Humana Vergogna, as part of Matera – European Capital of Culture 2019.

“Silvia is the Italian prophet of the free body. Not the gymnastic body so associated with physical strength, but the body truly free from the stereotypes that so many cultures have imposed on it,” the Italian critic wrote of her.

The performance GRACES will take place on June 6, 2021 in the House of Culture “Boris Hristov”, and tickets are already on sale via EpayGo.
